Your Words are the gauge to your faith

“If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.”

(James 1:26 NLT)

“Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.”

(James 3:2 NLT)

“It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.” (Matthew 15:11 NLT)

“No one is perfect. We will all sin everyday. We will always just be sinners saved by grace.” Have you ever heard statements like these? Is this what the Bible says? Absolutely not! The Bible says that if we could learn to control our tongue, we would be perfect and could control ourselves in every way! People think they have a sin problem. Their sin may absolutely be a problem but according to the Bible the root of that sin problem is their confession. Loose lips will produce a loose life. Have you ever done one-on-one evangelism in Texas? Something that you will find is that many people claim to be saved! The majority of people will say, “I am a born again, blood bought Christain.'' Let me ask a question: does the way that you talk Monday through Sunday depict that? Is it “Hallelujah” on Sunday and F-bombs on Monday? Or even worse, is it a confession of faith on Sunday and a mouth full of complaining unbelief on Monday? What do your words say about your faith? If you gauged your faith by the things you frequently say, would your words confirm that you love the Lord and believe His word like you have convinced yourself that you do? Please do not fool yourself! Take a self evaluation today of the words that so easily come out of your mouth!

Say this today: I am born again. I'm not a sinner who is saved by grace. I was a sinner and now I am a saint. Now I am the righteousness of God in Christ. My struggle of sin has been defeated by Jesus’ death on the cross. To live is Christ! It is no longer I who live, but Jesus lives through me! I may be in this world but I am not of this world.
