The Reward Of Fasting

“And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”
Matthew 6:16-18 NLT
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
One of the foundational pillars of Christianity is understanding that God is a rewarder. For every instruction God gives, He promises a tangible reward that comes with obeying the command. The Bible says in Matthew 6 that there is a reward for giving, there is a reward for praying, and there is a reward for fasting. When we fast, we are not simply beating our backs with rods (so to speak). We are not starving ourselves to make a display of our holiness. There is a tangible reward for diligently seeking the Lord, and there is a reward for fasting! The Bible is full of examples of people that reaped the reward of fasting. What is the reward of fasting? To summarize it briefly, the reward of fasting is the supernatural element added to your life. Many people believe the right things and say the right things, but never see the supernatural hand of God come upon them to supernaturally push them forward. Many never see supernatural favor, supernatural promotion, supernatural harvest, and supernatural breakthrough. This is the reward for fasting! You will see the supernatural hand of God come upon every area of your life!
